Ferrari is not popular on Jalopnik.

It isn't?

After that "How Ferrari Spins" article by Chris Harris and repeated posting of their cars on fire, I'd imagine not.

I don't get the impression jalopnik/oppo dislike the F1 team, posting burning street cars has almost zero correlation to that apart from the fact that they are the same manufacturer.

On top of that we post burning lambo's, mclarens, etc.

Same here. He is my second favorite driver, and I HATE Ferrari. Be prepared to hear Alonso bitch and moan for an entire season, I think Kimi will make short work of him.

When it comes to burning road cars they report on far more Ferraris than any other, and it's not because more of them catch fire...

As for the F1 team, I guess their behaviour makes them hard to like for a lot of people.

I guess I don't know enough about their F1 teams behavior.

It's stuff like "Fernando is faster than you" and forcing a gearbox change for Massa so that Alonso could start further up the grid in Austin. It ties in with their sometimes snotty or obnoxious attitude. Plus they make a big fuss when there's a rules controversy of some sort.

Ah got ya. That type of thing is what saddens me about F1 these days, too much emphasis on strategy and seemingly less and less and on being the fastest possible.

People worrying about Alonso and Kimi both wanting to win and that could cause trouble... So what, they both SHOULD want to win.

This years tires pissed me the fuck off too. It made more sense to run 24 laps kinda fast than it did to run 21 as fast as possible. The tires caused the pit stop in some races to be so crucial. That if you went too fast you'd have to pit before half way and that's not good because you'll need a second pit and then you won't win. This all equaled slower racing.

Fire and Ice don't make good mix

Saw the gearbox reference, so I dug this up.

I think the feels are coming from the perfect storm of:

1) Jalops love Lotus even if the F1 team has no affiliation whatsoever with the brand.
2) Jalops lover underdog stories.
3) Jalops connect with the generally "don't give a fuck attitude" while being secretly driven by an unstoppable need to compete that is Kimi.
4) Jalops love black and yellow which is way less garish than red and white.
5) Jalops dislike the idea that the team that traditionally gets whatever they want whenever they want (except lately due to a soda maker and a German with flouncy hair...no, not the Hoff) can so easily pick up their favored driver like it was nbd.
6) Jalops have a single "flatbrimmed hat :: team" ratio...this is going to throw it off.
